Our fire piston is an innovative solution for military and outdoorsman alike who need a reliable and sustainable means for starting fires.
The Compact Fire Piston, or CFP, is our modern design of an ancient, but tried and true method of fire starting. The people living in the jungles of Southeast Asia have been using the fire piston since the stone ages and continue to do so even today.
Since the fire piston has been proven for thousands of years, we felt that it was time for an ancient design to be upgraded and improved with modern materials and manufacturing techniques. The reason for these upgrades is to provide a product with superior properties.
Since our CFP is made entirely from aircraft grade 6061-T6 aluminum, it is impervious to moisture, breakage, extreme heat or cold, and therefore can take a lot of abuse without being damaged unlike fire pistons made of other materials. This is a big benefit from the traditional wooden fire pistons in many ways.
The Compact Fire Piston is the same as our Standard Fire Piston only it is shorter by one inch for a total length of 3 inches. This design still functions like the Standard Fire Piston just in a smaller package.
